Building a Better Home, Together
Hurdy Gurdy House is in need of repairs and a little tender loving care to restore a sense of pride and comfort for our residents.
Nurseries, paving companies, fencing specialists, and kitchen contractors are welcome to contribute their expertise and materials to raise the standard of the home.
Here are five meaningful ways you can help make a difference in the lives of our residents:
1. Garden Improvements
Our garden has large, overgrown trees that need trimming, and some areas would benefit from the addition of paving slabs.
A small section of the back garden requires new roll-on lawn, and the flower beds need compost and fresh plants.
Any help in restoring the beauty of our outdoor space would be deeply appreciated.
2. House Restoration
The house requires both interior and exterior painting. The roof fascia boards, windows, and doors are rotting and should ideally be replaced.
Our kitchen is a top priority and requires new stainless steel units, as well as new wall and floor tiles.
The seven bedrooms, two bathrooms, large lounge, dining room, and kitchen all need a makeover.
An external building, which includes a bedroom and bathroom, also requires a complete revamp.
3. Therapy Room
Our therapy room is currently a converted double garage.
We welcome volunteer occupational therapists who can implement programs to engage and stimulate residents.
Donations of therapy equipment would greatly enhance the services we provide.
4. Food Donations
Fresh produce, meat, chicken, and cleaning material donations are always appreciated.
These donations significantly help reduce operational costs, ensuring our residents are well-nourished
5. Health & Medical Care
Many of our residents have difficulty attending medical appointments due to behavioral challenges and a lack of transport.
Volunteer dentists and doctors who can offer occasional checkups and dental services would make a world of difference.
Routine ear checks would also help alleviate discomfort for residents who are non-verbal.
6. Fencing for Security
To ensure the safety and security of our residents, vibracrete fencing is needed at the back of the property, and the front fence needs to be extended.
We would greatly appreciate any assistance from contractors or individuals with fencing expertise to help complete this important project.
