The Residents
Our Residents
A Community of Care
Hurdy Gurdy House provides a safe, nurturing environment for adults with Autism and other diagnoses. Our dedicated team delivers personalized care, fostering a sense of community, independence, and belonging for all residents.
A Diverse Group of Individuals
At Hurdy Gurdy House, we currently support seven residents aged between 20 and 50 years.
Our residents present a variety of needs, with some being non-verbal and one resident who is deaf.
Each individual receives care tailored to their specific circumstances, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.
Ensuring the Right Fit
Our admissions process is designed to ensure that all new residents can thrive in our community.
Every prospective resident is required to undergo a three-month trial period, during which their adjustment is carefully observed.
This trial period may be extended as needed. Admissions decisions are made by a dedicated committee of trained professionals, who ensure that new residents will fit well within the home’s community and align with its core objectives.
Inclusive Care Beyond the Autism Spectrum
While Hurdy Gurdy House is primarily dedicated to individuals on the Autism Spectrum, we also accommodate residents with other diagnoses.
Up to 25% of our residents may come from this group, provided their integration into the home aligns with our philosophy and benefits the existing residents.
This ensures that everyone who joins our home contributes to a positive and supportive atmosphere.
Empowering Adults with Autism Through Compassionate Care
Creating a Home Where Everyone Thrives
At Hurdy Gurdy House, we offer specialized care for adults on the Autism Spectrum. Our admissions policy ensures a supportive fit for each resident, building a community where compassion and inclusion come first.
